  Introduction

The Chinese Society for geoinformatics is a non-government organization devoted to the development for the advancement of Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information System (GIS), Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Spatial Information and their application in Taiwan Area. 

The Chinese Geoinformatics Society (CGS) was founded in January 18th, 2003 under the leadership of its first President, Professor Chen. The direction and management of the Society is under taken through the following components: The Council, Congress, Technical Commissions and the five commissions which are responsible for scientific works of the Society. 

The Societyˇ¦s scientific interests marjory focus on 3S (GPS, GIS, RS), spatial information and other related disciplines, as well as applications in surveying, geodesy, cartography and other engineering sciences.  The principal activities of the Society are:

1ˇD Initiating and coordinating research in geoinformatics and related disciplines.

2ˇD Holding regional Symposia in Taiwan Area (at least twice a year) and congress (once a year) at regular intervals.

3ˇD Promoting cooperation and coordination with related societies in Taiwan Area.  

There are 38 full members, 30 group members, 90 (CGS) general members and 64 student members in our Society.

Now the Chinese Geoinformatics Society (CGS) had built for three years and under the leadership of its second President, Professor Chen.

Our society is associate member of ISPRS.
